La filière HBJO française muscle ses formations professionnellesA l’occasion de l’inauguration de la Foire de Bale, la 36ème édition du Salon Mondial de l’Horlogerie et de la Bijouterie, Doris Leuthard, la Ministre suisse de l’économie et des finances a déclaré que « les bijoux précieux et les belles montres sont aujourd’hui bien plus que des gardes temps ou des accessoires décoratifs, ils sont actuellement les meilleurs investissements ! » En effet, a poursuivi la Ministre, « ces objets sont des symboles de savoir-faire technique et artistique, de créativité et d’innovation ». Sa conclusion a été que « cette filière économique est un joyau dont la matière première est la formation pour laquelle rien ne doit être épargné ! ». Ces cinq derniers mots dans la bouche d’un Ministre des finances peuvent être considérés comme particulièrement forts. La Suisse est assurément consciente de l’importance de la formation professionnelle dans ces deux secteurs qui font partie des activités clefs du pays, et accepte de participer à l’investissement financier nécessaire. A sa manière, la France n’est pas en reste, en tous cas au niveau des organismes professionnels de la bijouterie et de l’horlogerie qui sont en ce moment très actifs sur ces sujets afin de rénover et de relancer les cursus de formation professionnelle. Le Bijoutier International, votre revue professionnelle, a décidé d’évoquer largement ce sujet dans l’édition d’avril que vous avez en main et aussi dans l’édition de mai 2008. Nous participerons également à l’animation d’un grand colloque qui fera un large tour d’horizon sur l’évolution de la formation professionnelle de la bijouterie-horlogerie en France. Organisée par Bruno de Coupigny et Bernadette Pinet-Cuoq de la UFBJOP, cette manifestation se tiendra le matin du 26 mai 2008 à Paris.

The French HBJO sector is setting up stronger professional trainings
On the occasion of the inauguration of the Fair in Basel, the 36th edition of the World Fair for Clock and Watch Making and Jewellery, Doris Leuthard, the Swiss Minister of Economy and Finances, stated that “precious jewellery and watches are much more than just keeping time or decorative accessories, they are currently the best investments!” Indeed, the Minister went on “such items are symbols of technical and artistic know-how, of creativity and innovation”. She concluded that “this economic branch is a jewel whose raw material is professional training and nothing should be considered too much for it!” Those last few words from a Finance Minister’s can actually be considered as very strong indeed. Switzerland is indeed aware of the importance of professional training in those two sectors which are part of the key activities of the country, and agrees to contribute to the necessary financial investment. In its way, France does not lag behind either, in any case as regards the professional bodies of clock and watch making and jewellery, which are currently very active on those themes in order to renovate and give a new boost to the professional trainings. Le Bijoutier International, your professional magazine, has decided to dedicate to this specific topic a large part of its April issue which you are reading now, but also in its May 2008 issue. We will also take part in a large meeting which will survey the evolution of the professional training in France regarding jewellery and watch making. This event is organized by Bruno de Coupigny and Bernadette Pinet-Cuoq from the UFBJOP and it will be held in Paris on 26 May 2008 in the morning.
